Method 1: Cut and Replace With a Coupling
If the pipe run has slack and you only need to disconnect to add a tee, replace a valve, or extend a line, cutting is the fastest move. Mark the pipe at least 2 inches away from the fitting hub, then use a PVC ratcheting cutter for pipe up to 1-1/4 inch, or a fine-tooth hacksaw for anything larger.
