Acoustic performance is the second draw. Tenement flats with neighbours below need a floor that does not transmit footfall. Quality LVT with the right underlayment hits 19 dB impact reduction (LL+IIC certified at 67 or higher), which is acceptable to almost every Edinburgh factor.
Maintenance is minimal. A pH-neutral cleaner like Karndean Clean or Bona Stone, Tile & Laminate Floor Cleaner, used weekly with a microfibre mop, keeps the surface looking new for 18 to 25 years.

- Labour for overlay, prep, and lay: $2,200 to $3,400

When to Choose Something Else
If you live in a Georgian-listed property in the New Town and your factor requires period-appropriate finishes, restore the original boards or fit engineered oak instead. If your flat has unresolved rising damp from the close below, fix the damp before any floor decision.
