Common Installation Mistakes to Avoid

Even though rigid flooring is DIY-friendly, a few errors trip up first-timers. Skipping the expansion gap at the walls is the most common; the floor needs room to move, and a plank butted tight against the baseboard can buckle. Failing to acclimate the boxes, especially in extreme climates, invites movement after install. Installing over a filthy or wet subfloor traps grit and moisture that can telegraph through or compromise the locking joints. And forcing planks together without seating the click fully leaves gaps that widen over time. Take your time on the first few rows, and the rest of the floor falls into place quickly.
