The marketing leans heavily on the waterproof claim, but real-world SmartCore flooring reviews reveal a more nuanced picture across the three sub-lines. SmartCore Naturals, SmartCore Ultra, and SmartCore Pro all share the SPC rigid core construction but differ significantly in wear layer thickness, plank dimensions, and price. How SmartCore Is Built
Every SmartCore plank uses a four-layer construction: a UV-protected wear layer on top, a printed decorative film, a stone plastic composite (SPC) core, and an attached IXPE foam underlayment on the bottom. The SPC core is approximately 70 percent crushed limestone bound with PVC, which produces a rigid plank that does not expand or contract with temperature like older WPC products. The second most common issue is color variation between production runs. Order all of the flooring for one job in a single delivery and check the lot numbers match. Mixing two lots can create visible color stripes across a room.
Warranty Coverage
SmartCore Naturals carries a 25 year residential and 5 year light commercial warranty. Ultra steps up to a 30 year residential warranty. SmartCore Pro extends to 30 year residential and 10 year commercial coverage with explicit waterproof warranty language.
Like every LVP warranty, exclusions apply for steam cleaning, abrasive cleaners, dragged furniture, and subfloor moisture issues. Keep the receipt, the lot numbers, and the warranty card for any future claim. Lowe’s processes warranty replacements through the manufacturer directly, which can take 4 to 8 weeks.
Maintenance That Preserves the Wear Layer
Sweep or vacuum (with the beater bar off) every few days. Damp mop weekly with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Bona Stone, Tile, and Laminate or Pergo One both work well.
