Raised floors raise the finished floor height significantly, which complicates door swings, stair landings, and accessibility transitions. ADA compliance requires beveled transitions where the raised floor meets adjacent flooring, and elevator thresholds must accommodate the change in floor elevation.

Maintenance staff need training on lifting panels safely and avoiding damage to underfloor utilities. Suction lifters and panel lifters are required tools, since prying a panel up with screwdrivers damages edges and shortens panel life.
