Avoid laminate. It swells at the seams the first time the rig gets caught in a thunderstorm with an open vent. Avoid solid hardwood; the humidity swings will cup and crown it within a season. Carpet is fine for the bedroom area only and should be a low-pile commercial-grade product, not a residential plush.

  3. Inspect every square foot of subfloor with a moisture meter; readings above 18% indicate active rot.
