A jigsaw or oscillating tool helps with curves around door frames and pipes. As for time, a confident DIYer can usually floor a standard 12-by-12 bedroom in a day, including prep, while a larger open area may take a weekend. Because there is no adhesive to cure, you can walk on the floor and move furniture back immediately, which is a meaningful advantage over glue-down or site-finished options.
