Home Depot sells more residential LVP flooring Home Depot than any other US retailer, and the in-store selection covers everything from $0.99 commercial-grade peel-and-stick to $5.50 per sq ft Lifeproof rigid-core planks. The depth is the strength; the navigation is the weakness. This is the field guide to the major brands on the floor, what each is good at, and where the install service does and doesn’t deliver.
Lifeproof — The Flagship
Lifeproof is Home Depot’s exclusive house-brand premium LVP, manufactured for HD by Hallmark Floors and others. The product range:
- Lifeproof Rigid Core Luxury Vinyl — $2.49 to $3.99 per sq ft, 6.5-7mm SPC core, 22mil wear layer
- Lifeproof Performance — $3.49 to $4.99, 8mm with cork-attached pad
- Lifeproof Sterling Oak / Trail Oak / etc. — top-selling decors, $2.99 to $3.99
The 22mil wear layer is the key spec — most Home Depot LVP under $2 has a 6 to 12mil wear layer that wears through in 5 to 8 years. Lifeproof’s 22mil holds up in heavy-traffic family homes for 15-plus years. Stock 10 to 12 percent overage; Lifeproof colors get discontinued and replacements aren’t always available.
TrafficMaster — Budget Tier
TrafficMaster is Home Depot’s discount LVP brand, priced $0.79 to $1.99 per sq ft. The wear layer is typically 6mil to 12mil, the core is thinner (4-5mm), and the locking system is less robust. For rentals, basement bedrooms, garages, or short-term flips, it’s a reasonable choice.
TrafficMaster Allure peel-and-stick at $0.99 per sq ft is appropriate for utility rooms and DIY weekends. The glue-down tabs fail at moisture intrusion within 3 to 5 years in bathrooms and kitchens — use only in dry areas.
Pergo Outlast Plus LVP
Pergo’s vinyl plank line at Home Depot ($2.79 to $4.49) leverages the brand’s laminate reputation. The locking system (UNICLIC) is excellent — tightest fit-up of any HD-stocked LVP — and the warranty (lifetime residential, 20-year light commercial) is strong.
Pergo Outlast Plus LVP is a solid choice for kitchens and basements where pure waterproof performance matters more than the latest design trends. Decor selection is more limited than Lifeproof or NuCore.
Home Decorators Collection
Home Decorators Collection is Home Depot’s mid-tier house brand, priced $1.99 to $3.49 per sq ft. The product overlaps Lifeproof in core construction but uses different decors. For homeowners who like the Lifeproof feel but want a slightly different look, Home Decorators is the alternative.
One quirk: Home Decorators stock changes annually as Home Depot rotates suppliers. A discontinued color is harder to source for repair than a Lifeproof color that has been in the catalog for 5 years.
Allure — Glue-Down LVT
Allure (originally TrafficMaster Allure) is a glue-strip click-together LVP, priced $0.79 to $2.49. It’s been at Home Depot for over 15 years and is the cheapest LVP in the store. Glue strips on the long edges hold planks together without traditional click-locking.
Allure is the right choice for rentals, garages, basements with no moisture issues, and short-term flooring. It is not a permanent floor — expect 5 to 8 years before adhesive failure starts.
Install Service — Mixed Results
Home Depot’s installation program subcontracts to local installers vetted by HD. Quality varies dramatically by region. Customer experience reports cluster around three patterns:
- Many regions: competent installers, 2 to 4-week wait, $1.50 to $3.50 per sq ft labor
- Some regions: high turnover, mixed quality, occasional warranty disputes
- A few regions: excellent local subcontractors with long tenure
Get the contracted installer’s name and license number before the install. Look up reviews independently — HD’s vendor management takes 10 to 30 days to respond to complaints.

Where to Shop Around
For premium LVP (over $5 per sq ft, 30mil+ wear layer, hand-scraped textures), Floor & Decor, LL Flooring, and local specialty stores often have better selection. Mannington Adura Max, COREtec Plus Premium, and Karndean Korlok are not stocked at Home Depot and are worth comparing for kitchens and master suites where the floor will get serious wear.
For pure budget — under $1.50 per sq ft — Lumber Liquidators (now LL Flooring) and Floor & Decor often beat Home Depot’s TrafficMaster pricing. The trade-off is store availability and stock depth.
Sale Cycles and Pro Pricing
Home Depot runs LVP promotions during specific windows: Memorial Day weekend (May), July 4th week, Labor Day weekend (September), and Black Friday through Christmas. During these windows, Lifeproof and Pergo Outlast typically drop $0.50-1.50 per sq ft, with bonus rebates on bulk purchases over $1,000.
For contractors and high-volume buyers, Home Depot Pro Loyalty offers additional 5-15 percent discounts on flooring purchases over set thresholds. The program is free for licensed contractors and includes paint, tools, and lumber discounts beyond just flooring.
Sample Strategy
Order samples before any large purchase. Home Depot offers in-store sample boards for most premium lines, and orders ship samples for free. Lay samples in your actual room under the lighting conditions you’ll live with — kitchen LED, living room natural daylight, bedroom warm lamps. The same product reads dramatically different across lighting.
